I try very hard to keep my arms straight and not to twist them when I'm pulling (I hate tendonitos) but it seems like static contractions from pulling heavy works my biceps as hard as a regular biceps workout.

Should I be concerned and fussing my technique to avoid injury or is this par for the course?

Yes I'm using a double overhand grip and straps once my grip gives out.

There has been many a torn bicep from deadlifting due to the over under grip...its just a part of the game. I would suggest using straps and over over grip all the time. Unless you are training for PL there is no need to go over under.

I wouldn't worry about a tear as long as you aren't going over under constantly.

Even then it doesn't happen all that often if you train smart.

I do over/under hand all the time when im doing deads/shrugs. Ive never once felt a strain on my biceps. Mind you, im only going up to 405.

Get straps though, i just started using them to reduce the strain on my forearms, they help a lot.

yeah man aint nothin wrong wit straps, you'll still get the "look" your going for wit straps regardless, I use them all the time (when needed) and am still stronger than most at my gym for over all grip strength..
