It looks likely they were involved in the Mexican drug trade.....not exactly the safest of occupations.

Yep. If you use common sense when visiting (like you should anywhere) you'll be fine. Millions of people visit every year without a problem. Statistically your more likely to get eaten by a shark than murdered there....

shit hole country where they have no regard for human life = stay on resort
there is a reason why the army conducts check stops of all natives going into the resort areas. And these guy mean business.
Pic I took from shuttle to airport

My wife and I will be going next month and this does not make me worry any more or less. If I was to go to downtown Vancouver tonight there are areas I would not go to late at night unless I was with a group of buddies. Should be common sense

No disrespect to anyone who has or is visting mexico. But why? What is so attractive about this shithole country. Why would you want to vacation in a slum? Is it cheap? I mean the food ain't great the drinking water is shit, sub par healthcare, it's dirty, there's armed guards everywhere apparently.
Doesn't sound like much of a vacation to me. Course I never been there.

You're letting the negative hype paint a poor picture of Mexico. Unless you're in the shitty border cities such as Tijuana or slum villages, there are many destinations in Mexico which are gorgeous and very nice to visit. The food is excellent (what are you basing your opinion on, Taco Bell?), drink bottled water that hasn't been opened, don't be rude to locals, etc... common sense for any place you travel to.
Here are a few pics to illustrate what I'm talking about:

there you answered your own question ;)
ahaha you bastard:D I'm just going off word of mouth. I always see commercials about getting hep B, and people getting sick from the water and spending a week on the shitter. Just sounds like more trouble than it's worth.

I've been to Tijuana, major shithole and will never go there again. I've also been to Ensanada, it's a tourist trap and I'll never go there again.
I've never been to the resort destinations on the coast, but I'd certainly like to sometime in the near future... looks like a great place to take a vacation for cheap.
You can get all inclusive deals for well under $1000.

Those commercials are paid for/run by the people who make the vaccinations. I'd trust them as much as I trust the flu vaccine commercials. You can get sick just about anywhere you travel to. Different regions have different bacterias, etc that you can get sick from just because you haven't built up a tolerance to it like people that have lived there have.

Yea its fairly cheap to get down there and stay. But you have to get off the resort, you'll be fine if you have a good head on your shoulders.

How many people get killed in Canada in a year? Or the US? I hate how people read in the News of people getting killed while visiting another country and putting fear in them that travelling to another country is not safe. How many Canadians went to Mexico for Vacation and lived to show and tell of all their exciting activities they've done? That's just my 2 cents.

Yes, and 90% of the locals are fantastic. Some of the sincerely friendliest people you'll meet.

Mexico is wicked, i would go there all the time if I could afford it. All inclusive is unbeatable.
You can get flight, accomidations and great food for a week for under $1000. The last place I went had awesome food, id eat a pound of bacon for breakfast, and about 3-4 filet minions during the day topped with tons of free booze. Its unbelieveable, makes me wanna book a trip just thinking about it.
If you go to a resort, you will be safe... if you go into town at night to find some night clubs and try to score some drugs in an alley, you're an idiot and you deserve to be stabbed and robbed.
mexican women ftw. hot, sexy and kinky.
