One of my concerns is getting sick (eg Flu, cold, etc.) while on gear. Flu season is here, and everyone around me is sick! Wondering what is best to do when you first start seeing signs of gettig the flu....like if you're feeling under the weather or have a sore throat and you're on gear.

What do you do to get better?
-Do you have a good remedy?
-Any best practices?

How does this effect your training?

-Do you stop training for a couple of days until you're better? Or do you take some Cold MD and continue your workouts? Or "Take it easy" until you're feeling better?

-If you get the flu, and feel like shit, should you still continue with your intense workout? Is this a good idea, or will it do more harm than good?

Thanks

If you have a full blown flu then don't train. It's counter-productive.

wash your hands, take some vit c, do all other precautions and hope for the best.

Just took a week off last week. Even though I `m at the near end of my cycle and wanted to hold off for a few more weeks before taking a week off, I pretty much had no choice. When your sick you`d be a fool to try and push it in the gym. There`s nothing you can do but take time off.

I always hear the recommendation saying wash your hands after you use the rest room. Me I do the opposite. Think about this. Before touching your wee wee, do you want it all "germed up" from the doors you touched, the hands you shaked, the money you touhced and all the other germs you must have come in contact with? Of course not, so wash before, after is good to but if you`re gonna grab a dirlty door handle on the way out, what`s the point. I never touch that handle...

What about touching the faucet handles that someone who just wiped their ass touched last? How are you getting the water out?

turn on tap, wash hands thoroughly, and leave the taps running, use clean paper towel to dry hands , then use the same paper towel to turn off taps.

what if you felt 100% fine then after your shot. Hot and cold, very tired, achy, feeling really sick???

I won't train with a fever but otherwise I will lift. If I'm sick I can lift at home so I don't spread the damn disease.

The local Y has 5 hand sanitizing stations in the workout room. I use them between lifts and try to keep my hands away from my face.

so i think what you were trying to say is that when you come off your immune system is weakened.....and this is due to the decrease in androgen levels which in turn causes an increase in cortisol levels which in turn lowers immune function....or i guess the influx of foreign substance can give you the "test flu".....but in general i have never had a prob with immune function while on and in fact my doc said that my levels were such that he did not expect me to be ill ever......alas i had to come off and 4 months later i got the pig sickness but it was extremely mild.......

if your sick take the time off...period, it won't hurt you to do so, plus as said... it is counter productive to train while sick.

when your sick your sick, make the smart choice and just rest.
if you feel yourself getting sick like i did this weekend just take vit c and garlic pills one of each every 2 hours or so, yeah its way more than recommended and your gonna be burping garlic for awhile but i did it for the last 3 days and feel great now
