I'm on keto now... 3 meals and 3 shakes.

I'm 5'6.5", ~170lbs, approx 14-15% BF.

Should I be consuming 1 or 2 scoops of whey in my shakes? If I'm supposed to be getting around 1gram of protein per 1lb of LBM, it seems like 50grams of protein each shake is a bit high.

Would I be ok with just one scoop, or maybe one and 1/2?

I'd personally do 2 scoops. Is it isolate you're using?

I have 3 whole meals and 3 shakes or 2 shakes 4 meals a depending on the day. but 2 scoops in each not including my pwo shake

But depends on your protein intake though, spread it out evenly throughout the day.

It's an isolate/concentrate combo.

I'm just concerned about calories. If I'm consuming 50 grams of protein 3x day, plus 30-40 grams protein per meal, thats 240-270 grams protein a day... 960-1080 calories. Add around 100 grams of fat daily, 900 calories... I'm approaching 2000 calories.

So as you can see, for me, that might be too high in calories if I'm trying to lose weight. Should I lower my fat consumption?

Today I've had (P/F/C):

2 Eggs, 1 Chicken Sausage, 1/4 cup Almonds - 35/30/8

2 Scoops Whey, 1 Tbsp Almond Butter - 50/15/4

1 Can Sardines - 26/16/0

1/2 Cup Snow Crab Meat w/butter, 1/4 Cup Broccoli w/Ranch dressing, 1/4 Cup Cucumber - 30/20/8

2 Scoops Whey, 1 Tbsp Almond Butter - 50/15/4 (haven't had this yet, going to in a minute or two)

Total: 191/96/24 - 1724 Calories

I wanted to eat another meal before my shake, I'm still hungry.. but I'm already at the max calories for the day.

Personally, I only use a shake to replace a meal if I have no choice (running short of time say) otherwise I'll always eat whole foods as a meal, not a shake. I have a huge appetite and I'm almost never hungry while in ketosis. I would say you feel hungry because of those shakes. Try replacing 1 or 2 of those shakes with a can of tuna and/or a chicken breast for a few days and see if it makes a difference. I'm sure it will. You can always keep your cals low without needing shakes.

I all the sudden came across 35 pounds of qaulity isoalte right now so im experimenting. I am 210 now and i take 3 scoops 8am, 3 scoops 1230, 3 sccops 4, 3 post work. 65g of pro per 3 scoops. Shakes in water only. And my weight is really starting to go up. Been doing it for 3 weeks and up about 5 lbs but may not be directly linked to that. OTher changes are going on. Bottom line is try 2 minimum.

I honestly believe in taking protein and fats between meals, even if meals are shakes, i slam another 2 scoops and olive oil 1-2 T between the meals, to make sure i never feel hunger in offseason...As soon as i up my protein to a very high amnt, i grow and my body changes.....
I eat 3 whole food meals per day, and 3 shake meals per day, with carbs, usually coffee grinder ground oats and some nuts(pro, carb, fats 50-50-20), and in between i have a couple pure protein shakes with olive oil, or just protein...More often than not, pure isoprotein makes me ill feeling taking straight on its own, so i add the olive oil to relieve this...so around 500 grams protein per day for me...

Won`t taking that much protein cause your body to produce insulin and defeat the purpose of doing the keto diet?

Taking fats with the protein slows absorption and insulin spike...

I`m pretty sure I heard Palumbo say that, which is why I was kinda repeating it here.

Yeah thats why I was asking.. I don't want to have too much protein intake if it's going to interfere with ketosis. So I need to know exactly how much I should taking... 3x 2-scoop shakes a day gives me 150 grams of protein. Add 3 meals and I'm well over 200 grams. I've read I only need 1 gram per 1lb of LBM, so I need to know if I'm taking too much.

I've also read if one takes in more protein than the body needs, it's converted to glucose.. is this true? If that's the case, then that would pull me out of ketosis as well. If I'm gonna do this, I wanna do it the most effective way possible... would suck if I was just spinning my wheels for 2 months.
