Thats the problem having pets, they are family members.spoil them like kids.We have 5 cats & 1 dog. They dont lie, cheat or steal from you they love you unconditionally.we have lost a few over the years and they are sadly missed. All are pets from over the years have been strays or spca, and there all fixed. My dog goes every where with me.The cats, well there my wifes LOL there very cool too.

That`s tough. I remember when my sister`s cat "Kamikaz" died. She called me at work to tell me and I actually cried in front of my boss and was so embarrassed after. Sorry to hear about your loss ST.

Hang in there ST. Outside of breaking up with my ex of 10 years, putting down her cat of 17 years was the hardest thing I ever had to do so I understand what you are going through.
It's one thing when they pass on their own but it's another when you take them in t end their life. Such a painful experience.
Be well, friend.

I recently lost my dog of 14 years ( Pizon) I picked her up from the s.p.c.a. when she was about 2 years old, lab x rotti..she was the best dog ..I had no need for a leash with her,,always listened, this dog loved me so much...she died in her sleep and I am greatful for that I miss her so much..I can't stop thinking about her all the time ,I miss coming home to her. I am breaking down right now.... I feel for people who lose their pets. there's a reason why dogs are called mans best friend and I lost my best friend ...Sorry for everybody's loss ...it's too bad they can't live aslong as we do..
Sorry to hear that ST.5 weeks ago I had to put down my female rott. She had cancer.Taking them to the vet is tough....

It's really weird but I didn't cry at all when any of my grandparents died. For my cat, I got him from the Humane Society and within 1 month we had to have him euthanised. He had a rare lethal condition that mutated from something fairly common in cats. I cried uncontrollably at the vet. It's amazing how attached you can get to your pets. Sorry to hear about your cat ST.
My cat got really sick really fast and had to be put down at the age of 9 - kidney disease - and he was like a dog/cat; affectionate, came when called, liked strangers etc...He went downhill so fast. :( He was suffering. It was a easy decision to make...but such a hard thing to DO.
Was with him at the end. I was pretty strong, for him really. It really hit when I had to empty his food & water bowls. THAT is when it hit. Didn't bawl my eyes out, more of a chocked up throat for hours.
That was about 4 months ago, and we decided it was time to adopt another cat, when lo and behold, we ended up rescuing a lost kitten! After a week of trying to find a legitimate owner he may have had...he's ours now! Never had a kitten either, always adopted/had adult cats as they are harder to find homes for at the SPCA. :)
One last thing: Something I read on PostSecret that I already knew, but hit me like a ton of bricks:
"I work at a Vet. When putting animals to sleep we always give people the option to stay or leave the room. Stay. The pet always ends up looking for you."
Sorry to hear that dude. Just know that she is in heaven and will always be in your mind. I had to put my dog down a few years back, so I know the grief that us pet owners go through. I never cried so much and I still do think of her, but time does sooth the pain. Take care.
