This is the only subforum I could think of to post in...

Anyway, I've been feeling like my blood pressure is high again.. so I took it and it is high at 143/85... so time to start taking the hawthorne berry again.

What got me was my resting heart rate was only 56bpm. It's never this low.. it's usually around 70 something.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

I know some people that have a really high VO2 max (great cardio) who have resting heart rates under 60.. i think 60 -75 is normal resting heart rate..

Is this something I should be concerned about? nothin to worry about cept the high blood pressure..........my resting heart-rate sits around 45bpm....any less than 40 is kinda low unless you are a long distance athlete....marathons and longer shit....cyclists....normal range is 40-80....anywhere in there is fine!

I always thought lower was better, generally fit athletic people have heart rates between 50-60. I think 70 is a lil high but probably still very close to average.

Also realize that those cuff things are drugstores suck especially for people with bigger arms.

ok, maybe its lower since ive been doing regular cardio.

the BP, yeah im gonna work on it right away. its back up to where it was earlier this year... i took a quality hawthorne berry supplement regularly and it went down significantly. i think its back up because of the Epistane im taking.. about 10 days in..

If your heart rate is usually in the 70's i would guess you don't do too much cardio. Then 56 would be a misread. It takes work to get into the mid fifties.I once had a 50 or 51 and that took exposure to altitude(late 30's).Tex,you're a mean mofo....

That's what it used to be (high 60's to low 70's), but I haven't checked either since April or May. Since then I've been doing cardio regularly, so it could explain why it's lower than I'm used to seeing.

I'm going to check periodically once I start taking the Hawthorne again to make sure my BP is going back down, so I'll have a better idea on my average BPM as well.

I've seen a ton of people with HRs around 50.
Often marathon runners, or very active people. Even seniors with HR around 50 as well.

My best was 43 bpm.

Well,I used to believe that Joe Frazier's rate of 40 was the record.Ali's was 45.Apparently Miguel Indurain(5 or 6 time Tour winner) was recorded at 28.I talked to a small French Canadian oly boxer once who told me he was briefly at 39.Some good athletes here.

I have been told by 3 different types of Doctor's that the lower the better. My resting heart rate is about 43 bpm and the lowest my blood pressure has gone is 73 over 45 and that was after playing a hockey game. I went to the hospital, they laughed and sent me home.

However, after doing some research, I got the impression that low blood volume makes your blood pressure and resting heart rate drop unnaturally. I drink more water now to be on the safe side.

don't worry about too low, worry about too high. i check mine regularly in the morning and you can tell a lot if your bp or pulse are out of whack. If i go out and party, holy crap does it get screwed up! My pulse is normally around 55-60 and bp of 110-65, but one morning my head was killing me (after a long night of partying) and my heart was around 90 and BP of 145-90 - you can really see how much crap partying does to the insides. No amount of aas causes as many problems as partying like a f$cking madman
