Hello,

Another new guy here. I ran a cross this board while searching the net for more info on working out at 50.

I have a home gym set up in the garage with safeties for my squats and Bench press.

My goal is to gain muscle and not put on to much new fat in the process. So far the diet thing kind of escapes me. I know the basics but I have not been able to find a balance point where I gain more muscle then fat. So while I have made some really nice beginner's gains over the summer I have also gone up from 19% bf to 22% bf.

I also have a problem with over training. (What can I say; I love the iron.) But, I have now read enough on the net to cut back on my work outs.

Can any one here point me to an FAQ for the 50 plus trainee?

Thanks!

Hi Aging..I"m 52, ya years old! Retired once I made it to my first Canadian Nationals Contest due to a broken rib and the aging conditions. I now coach.

Welcome to CBB..there are a few others like us on here who love the gym.

When someone asks a question like "I don't understand the diet" the first response everyone is going to give is do the research on here. There is alot of very good posts about diet and the different ones. Remember some are for hard core bodybuilders who are cutting down before a contest and others are for bulking.

What we all like to work with is looking over what your doing now. Take a few min and type out what your diet is..where you think your downfalls are and see if we can go from there.

Thanks for the information. I guess I will take a look at the forums to see where the best place to start would be.

Again thanks!
