Getting the picture why only dirty old tool monkeys ride these bikes. Now that I have no issues engine/tranny wise I am dealing with either a voltage regulator or a stator issue as it's over charging the battery. An over charged battery vents and drains out the vent tube.Drains all over my new rear rim (solid billet) and my chrome swing arm and my chrome rear brake,ya they are all ****ed from the acid.Oh and the frame to wow I'm not sure what I did to piss off the Shovel Head God but I'm thinking an Evo(Ultima 127) for next year!

you might have a bad ground

i had an ultima 127 for a few years....good engine..but can over heat easily....which leads to knocking and rebuilds......you have to keep it cool (dont get polished, its worst for heat, and get an oil cooler hooked up!!!!) if you do alot city riding or end up sitting in traffic go smaller or pull over and shut it down....the ultima is a high-compression racing engine and the 127 has pretty thin walls...you can only bore them a couple times and then need new heads, especially if you 'score' the cyl. walls badly like i did.....

as for your shovel..they dont call them 'trouble heads' for nothing.....can you get a sealed battery instead of vented? i think if its overcharging your stator may be on its way out.....open or closed primary? or a bad ground like waderown suggests check connections at your battery

Closed primary, disconected the voltage regulator so the battery doesn't keep puking out and I'll kick it over for the next few weeks. This FLH was considered bad ass back in the day,not much compared to the customs of today.Wiring I'm sure is 20yrs old and the last nitemare I'm about to tackle. Not going to monkey around getting all new,as I have endured way to many head aches with this old bike and once it's 100% I'm parking it in my garage for a conversation piece and riding something new. Thanks for the tips on the 127,have other options to both Rev Tech and S&S for the pro street frame I have.

Inked get a springer front end for your shovel head. That pair makes one of the most badass rides of all time. The springer front end on a shovel head is such a clean look.

no RevTech please!!!! ........ultima, S&S, TP are all great engines.

and going agains bigtavi8.....a springer would ruin the look of your FL.......apehangers however would be dope!

here are some wiring diagrams...should you decide to do it.
I used the one with the white background(colour coded) to do my bike...no problem.

That is the only rocket I have respect for! That beauty put a stop to the "speed wars" between the Jap makers. Not many guys out there who can really push that bike to even close to it's limits. My rocket days (FireBlade 2 of em and a big old Ninja) are in the past. Now I'm cool at 50 mph and not 150 mph!
