This is my current offseason and its going amazing so far. What do you guys recomend as to offseason cardio if one wants to stay lean and yet still put on some good mass. I tried a few weeks of no cardio like ppl have told me but to keep off the bloat and fat i want to do SOME. So i have been doing 3 times per week max 30 min brisk walk treadmill OR 25 min high intesnsity recumbinant bike. Any suggestions..gymbrat i want your input

Do a 50 minute spin class 3x a week in the morning on an empty stomach you will burn about 600 calories every class! Also, you can set your resistance pretty high and peddle slow so its like you are working your legs!

according to palumbo...

start off 20mins every 3rd workout either empty stomach in morning or post workout, you can up it to max every other workout.

staying lean is good so when cutting up you don't have to work as hard. but don't be afraid to put on a bit of fat it goes hand in hand.

keep heart rate at 120-125max for optimal fat burning zone.

I take what i read with a grain of salt. I too what burn to much muscle doing a spin class. With the pace and BPM you would be using carbs as a fuel. So i prefer my brisk walk and bike. But this morning got in 40 min 3.8mph walk on a empty stomach!

Hey Tav ive been doing brisk cardio about 4-5 days a week for 20-30 mins this offseason/bulk and im loving it bro.. staying way leaner/vascular and the size/strength is increasing at a good rate(not as fast if i was eating more and doing less cardio, but still increasing good)..... so far at around this time im happier then last year when i did barely any cardio... i have a feeling ill be wearing tank tops and veining out like a mofo all winter long!

C money im like you i could care less about summer. I dont go to the beach and i dont go on vacation. I dont want to miss the gym. Id rather be ripped in winter and veiny all year long. Who cares who sees im happy when im lean and mean in the mirror with a tank on in the winter.

Get out of here andre theres no way you got abs in your avi without cardio. Whats the secret great genetics, very clean diet, or chemical enhancement?

The biggest thing would be super clean diet 99% of the time... I eat the same thing, at the same time every day with the exception of 1-2 cheat meals a week... even then, I go with high fat food like wings or ribs and try to avoid sugar... I cut out carbs after lunch... so no starch or sugar after my lunch meal... I train with high volume and break up my workout into multiple sessions during the day as I spend 12 hours a day in the gym 5-6 days a week :p

Fat burners help as well... the more muscle you have, the more calories your body burns... I am sweating when I workout...

If I do a contest next year I will throw in cardio for the last couple of weeks...

I don't have the best genetics in world :D

I was assuming he was on juice. You wont burn muscle doing a 50 minute spin class on an empty stomach if you are on juice. Just make sure after that session you fuel up.

Spinning is super high intensity... not what you want to be doing if you are body builder!

The one reason I like the classes is because it forces me to do cardio for a set amount of time unlike on the treadmill where you can say **** it ill skip out 10 minutes early today.

Bro that is complete nonsense...juice wont "protect" you from a 50 min high intensity spin class on an empty stomach

Your not going to burn off muscle doing 50 minutes of cardio on an empty stomach while you are on juice. I could see if you were on a low carb diet then ya but as long as you fuel up on carbs directly after you should be g2g.

you are way off base man.... on juice or not that is not the sort of cardio you do for bodybuilding purposes.

I know for my genetics I do light jogging for a few minutes a week for the heart benefits, and mostly the morning brisk walk. Diet is what builds definition, if you eat shit, you look like shit.

Its offseason, cardio kind of goes against the idea of bulking, and it has its benefits. I used to be for it, and still am in certain cases such as someone that has a tendancy to put on fat easily. But I have a feeling that you dont, so I think you could get away without it and not worrying about adding that extra bodyfat. If you feel you are getting a bit sloppy clean up the diet for a bit.

Sounds like you are already doing the best type of cardio for what you are looking for. See ya at the Gym and the store going to do some X mas shoping next week.

Sounds great creatine.

And a little update to anyone who posted on this thread a long time ago. I tried doing 0 cardio and it really effected my sleep quality and bodyfat percentage. I got to a BF at 245 that was to bloated and high for me. So i add cardio in maybe 2-3 times a week real light pace say 20 mins a session and it revs my metabolism. Tightened up the diet and lost about 5 lbs so still at 235 but lean for offseason (all abs are in).
