Didn't see anything like this posted ( if I missed it sorry )

I will list the gym I belong to first - Out A Bounds in Whitecourt , Alberta ( hoping to start my own )

I was just wondering if people could start posting their's as I travel a fair bit ( and I'm sure others do to ).

Last time I was in Ontario I ended up going to Good Life with my brother in Ajax and I'm not saying they didn't let us train , but we were worned about certain things ( ie : putting on the bench shirt ). So I don't want that to happen again :)

Lets get a Canadian list up .

In Ajax I train at anytime fitness. I wouldn't really call it P/L friendly (no chalk...) but as long as Andre is there (he posts on this board) you are in the go for pretty much anything as long as you are not being an obnoxious douche bag.

Right on , good to hear some feedback.

I should also say that Out A Bounds has :

Monolift ( very hard to get anywhere )
Chalk
Chains
Boards
Bands

It has had a few bodybuilder and powerlifters train there with their pictures up , but it still has to be treated with respect like any gym because not everyone is into that.

I will keep that in mind when im down in vic. If anyone is up in the Parksville area Fitness connection is under new ownership and it is definatly powerlifting friendly, we have 4 squat racks/ olympic lifting platforms.

The chalk makes a mess... 99.999% of members don't even know what it is... they just want to see a clean club... The little blue grip pads I have in Ajax work wonders... my little girly hands have no trouble pulling 500lbs off the floor with them... Here's an alternative to look at...

Dude, you do NOT want stickum in your gym, it won't come off the bars. ever.

The Garage in Surrey is supposed to be one of the best in the Vancouver area, World Gym and Abby fitness in Abbotsford (BC).

Fitness unlimited in Maple Ridge is supposed to be pretty good too, correct me if im wrong, never actually been. Just talked to people that train there.

Hey Talo, funny you mentioned Out A Bounds... I actually know Shane And Jenna. I've Know Jenna since the 5th grade. I knew her and her family when they lived in Calgary. I met Shane over 10 years ago thru her. We went to Mexico with them a couple years ago too.

Anyway, since I've done my fair share of powerlifting, I know some great gyms here in Calgary.

Probodies has a great "old school" feel to it. Rik (the owner) is a very cool dude, is an accomplished bodybuilder and has a physique that would make most pro's jeleous. They have a monolift and lots of powerlifters from the independant Powerlifting Federation train there. Chalk is actually a requirement :) (if you don't use chalk, your not lifting enough!)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AlladinSane (member on this forum) Owns a gym here in town that apparenty kicks some ass. I haven't had a chance to go there yet, but here are the specs from his sig:

150lb dumbells
chalk
steel weights (not rubber coated)
loud rock and metal music
BodyBuilders, Powerlifters, and strength athletes welcome and appreciated
free tanning
INEXPENSIVE (affordable even just as a second gym for 1 or 2 workouts a week)
shake bar

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dynamic Fitness is a little hole in the wall that if you blinked, you'de miss it, but again, it has a nice "old school" feel to it. They also have a monolift, but it's not very busy, the music is quiet and bad, the change rooms really needed work the last time I was there and if you're looking for other lifters to motivate you, look elswhere.

lol when I saw those pics I was wondering if it was, apparently I was right.

My girlfriend trains with Team barbarian out in Toronto. The guy who runs the club Josh Hewitt has A shitload of strongman stuff at his place and runs group shit.

If you check out the OPA website there are couple other ones listed. I know Niagra, London, Hamilton, Belle river and Ottawa all have fairly popular P/L clubs.

I am actually pretty sure that the Ajax/Pickering/Whitby/Oshawa area is like the only place in Ontario where you are essentially ****ed when it comes to any sort of P/L presence.
