CBB,
I decided to get my team into doing some volunteer work (Big Brothers, Diabetic research center...donate blood) and to allow them to get the rewards associated with giving back to the community.
I got a registered nurse to come over to my venue, she set herself up to do blood tests and book people for donations.
Each donation consists of 450mls of blood, and I believe a person can donate once per month.
Today after i went down to their office for my appointment, I get tested for irons levels---all is very very well.
I then filled out a questionnaire.--One of the questions is relevant to needles.
The conversation that the nurse and I had:
Her: Have you ever...self administered...?
Me: yes
her: oh?
Me: anabolics--I am my own doctor :D :D
After the conversation developed, she wanted to know who I was getting it from....I explained that I would have had to have made love to her on the counter---damn she was cute too, and then and only then I would release the info....she started to laugh.
Turns out, that I am a mere 2% of the population in blood type. I am AB+. Which is VERY VERY rare.
My donation was denied however, because I use and will continue to use self administered "illegally" obtained compounds.---more so BECAUSE of my needle usage, outside a clinic.
I cannot donate.
You???
\Ever tried to? Or do YOU currently donate?

I tried and ran into the same problem....I was told that I can NEVER donate blood since I self injected AAS. Really disappointing..and frankly confusing. If I don't have any blood born pathogens and have never shared a needle in my life, why am I banned for life?

I felt the same way!!
The nurse told me that I would have to go 18 months clean of needles before I could donate.
I said:
You have policemen, firefighters, football players, hockey players who donate blood all the time. THESE men at least some (I said) USE anabolics regularly.
Out of 1000 people, I AM part of 20 (2%) of them with my blood type. 20!!!!
I can understand where the system is coming from. I mean after all, WE do DO introduce illegally made compounds --NOT approved by the FDA or anything of such.
It's a loose, loose situation for both us, and those who need our blood.
I asked for my file to be destroyed, since I will never go 18 months clean of self administered anabolics.

18 months eh? I'm going to double check that, maybe the nurse I spoke to had bad info? If that's the case I'll start donating in just under 18 months time....since I just finished my last cycle.

I often wondered about the questions they asked.
So the last time I gave blood and did the questionaire I said to the nurse, "So let me get this straight, why are you guys even asking these questions if your supposed to be testing the blood for disease in the first place?"
Think about it. I don't think they are testing shit.

Concider yourself relieved. If they needed it bad enough they would take it regardless and test it. They obviously don't need it bad enough!
This topic came up again in the news a few days ago.
I knew I couldn't donate blood a long time ago because I was born in the UK and lived there for more than 2 years, so I guess there's a tiny chance that I have CJD.
I looked up the Canadian Blood Services questionnaire out of interest. Turns out that I answered yes to 8 of the 53 questions.

Anybody who has used AAS that wasn't prescribed by a doctor can never give blood either.
These have to be the two dumbest questions:
In the past 6 months, have you had sex with someone who's sexual background you don't know?
- So basically, anybody who's not in a long term relationship and has had sex in the past 6 months is out... isn't that what condoms are for?
In the last 12 months have you had close contact with a person who has had hepatitis?
- What is close contact? Like a hand-shake? I dunno I work in a hospital, maybe I have - 1/1,000 people have some form of hepatitis.

Be glad you weren't able to donate, cause when you have a rare blood type they dont STOP calling you. I donated a few times and am O neg, only 7% of canadians have the same. Yea its a good feeling to donate but gets annoying when they continue to call and call and call for more lol.

I believe its question #21 of the questionairre. If you've EVER used AAS by needle, you can NEVER donate in your life. Funny though I think street drug users can after a period of time. That's right, AAS users are rated lower - go figure
good... for the amount of $$$ i put into my blood, i'm either keeping it or selling at a premium
