Stretching helps alot. Glutes and hams, everyday. Believe it or not that Dr. Ho device that`s sold of t.v. has helped me alot. I`ve seen lots of massotherapists, accupunture`s, chiro`s and healers, and nothing has quit fixed my problem. I`ve spent thousands on this.
I`ve had to accept the fact that most hip dominated movements are a no no for me. Squats, stiff legs, lunges, stuff like that. Even running hurts me in the groin area. It sucks, lot`s of people get this and just have to live with it. If it`s due to the fact you have one leg longer than the other, you`re pretty much ****ed like me.
I had this fixed twice this year, (the leg length problem) where I was literally tied to the floor and had a guy pull on my leg, bring it out, then put it back in to correct the imbalance. I fainted on the first leg pull. Totally ****ing brutal and hope you don`t have to go through this. It`s called accupressure in case you want to look into it. Not many people are qualified to do this. Got the other leg pulled the same night. It didn`t work, due to an aritculation in my hip being weak, so it slipped back out. Got one leg pulled again 3 months later and I`m still not 100%. Since then I avoid the hip dominant stuff and have to be religious with the stretching. 2 days of not stretching and I`m walking around like an old man.
All the best with this bro, it`s a bitch of a situation to deal with. If you have the cash, I`d get an M.R.I done so this way you won`t spend your time and money on experts guessing what`s wrong with you like I did. First I`d check to see if one leg is longer than the other or see how your hip alignements is going.

Thanks ritch. I already know what triggers mine. It's my job. Sometimes I'm in akward postions for 3-4 hours at a time and alot of strain is put on my lower back. It starts off as a small twitch in my leg, then before I know it I have shooting pain from my lower back, through my right butt cheek, down to my knee. Today it was so bad at work I actually collasped for the first time. Must have twisted the wrong way and my leg just gave out. Everyone came rushing over they thought I passed out from the heat.
I can lift all day long with no problems but send me to work and lookout...
I should go see my doc this is pretty bad....

Thanks for the green fellla`s. One little tool that can really help you that is very inexpensive and you can buy at Winner`s of all places, is a foam roller. These kick ass. Be prepared to suffer and sweat. I have a fan by my side when I use mine. Here`s a vid showing how to release the piriformis muscle and not pinifomis you homo`s!!!
