So I was watching the food network like usual and I saw a show where they had some scientist guy on saying that if you are to drink 1 8oz glass of ice water your body will need to burn 17 calories in order to bring that water up to your core temperature. Therefore, drinking 6 x 8 ounce glasses of ice water a day would burn 102 calories extra a day. So if you are on a diet make sure that the water you are drinking is ice cold! It could help you attain your goals a bit sooner!

I definitely use this advice religiously, I heard in a different study that drinking 2 cups of cold water will temporarily raise your metabolism by 40% they failed to mention for how long though, either way I drink lots of it and its good advice man

If you go outside in the cold your metabolism gets raised to raise your body temp. I could see your body having to work harder to keep your temperature up when your drinking ice water.

I think this would be for only a limited amout of time until your core temp brings that water back up, otherwise you would probally have more to worry about then 17 calories.

If you introduce cold into your body, the body will increase blood flow to the stomach, and will use energy to maintain body temp as it absorbs the cold water. This will infact burn calories. Not enough to worry about though. I would sooner spank one off and burn more.

If you get brain freeze you burn an extra 25 cals. So when I drink a slurpee I get brain freeze every other sip so in essence when Im done my body has actually burnt it all off, its great.

In theory it makes sense. The body works to keep it's core at a steady temp. In practice something like this would be hard for the average person to tell.

Or, you could spank one off WHILE drinking ice water for the ultimate calorie burning combo! For an exhilarating bonus, aim for getting brain freeze while busting a nut.
