What is the most prestigious personal trainer course. I am looking to become a fitness expert. I realize that a University degree in Kinesiology, biomechanics etc is something to look to and that is in my long term plan, however for the mean time I am wanting to get certified now to get experience. I don't want any weekend crash course like Can Fit Pro etc.
Any thoughts?

Im halfway through kineisology and its not as gym oriented as i thought it would be. Besides anatomy, physiology, its a lot of senseless bullshit i cant use. Sport psychology, ethics, other BS. but at least with Hk it only takes practicly a few hundred bucks and a weekend to get your Can fit. I havent heard about other personal training certificates as of yet. Im gonna research it.

CSEP offers a personal trainer certification which requires two years of kin or fitness related post-secondary education. I like that because Joe ShMO who has very little knowledge and experience can take a weekend certification and become a personal trainer. My only issue is that I can't commit to a schedule which I require to attend class I need an online university or college program.

I guess an issue with obtaining a certification with ASCM is that it will most likely be more expensive to obtain insurance whereas a certification with a Canadian program will have insurance partners and offer insurance at wholesale.

There is no such thing as a prestigious personal trainer certification. They all cover the bare mins. Best to go with Phys Ed or Kines degree and then get Certified exercise physiologist. Thats considered the creme de le creme

That is one of my biggest pet peeves! You get some guy/girl who's never really spent time in the gym ever, but lost 10lbs over the last yr and get a wkend crash course for Personal Fitness Training and teach the worst form and so on! ......Man that drives me insane!!!
