I decided to try tackling a spur of the moment bathroom reno
changed a toilet (it was gross but easy)
now I'm putting in a new vanity and sink... got the onl ones out... new one needs to be cut to fit, but I don't know about the drain stuff, like all the black pipes.. the new vanity and sink sit in a different place... and there is a support stud in the middle of where the old black drain stuff fits...

anyone have a clue what I'm talking about?

so... the black part that is sticking out the right side... I need to get rid of that... can I cut it close to the main stack and get like a flexi p trap and hook it direct to there? or do I need to get even higher with the stupid glue and cowboy some kind of fandangled pvc monstrosity together?

This should help.....

Anyway, try to cut the 45 closest to the stack off flush (see arrow). Then cut slices (see red lines)in the collar that goes over the pipe. You should be able to pry off these pieces. Clean it up with some emery cloth. You can then extend this to where you need it and use a new P trap.

Short of this you are into major plumbing.

Also, do not leave any drains or vent stacks open as methane gas not only stinks but can be toxic.

PS...I should get green for showing restraint from the obvious women playing with pipe comments.

Good luck

THANKS!!
can the methane give me a giddy feeling and a headache? (thats where I am now)
... ok... I used the reciprocating saw... and after doing it and rechecking your diagram... I cut on the wrong side of the horizontal lines

Possible but you'll need to get connectors and a new piece in the middle.

Hey Randy... I am in the process of running back and forth between home and home depot for all the stuff I keep forgetting LOL... just need a coupler to attatch the 1.5 inch pipe to the 2 inch, then i'll cut the center T out and turn it so its facing forward instead of to the right (because the vanity center support is in the way if I keep it to the right...
will post up in about an hour!
(*thanks again!!.. I really should have waited on this project)

Before I cut that plumbing open, I would consider removing the vanity brace, and making my own. Perhaps a 2x4 attached to the wall on underside or top or something.

that its huge and sideways

That is what all the girls tell me......

Do you think you could have got another fitting on there? It looks good. If you have not done this before be sure to twist the fittings together to get the glue spread out better.

Another tip......connect the bottom first. If you connect the top first you will not have enough play to get the bottom socket connection made.

BWAAAAA... lol... huge and sideways!! I didn't even realise I said that!!

how much time do I have when I apply the glue until it seals? like do I have a few seconds wiggle room or does it set instant like contact cement?

it's a pretty tight fit (no sexual comment please LOL)

MWAAAAA... (that's a big kiss for all the help!!)

Make sure you add a P trap now to the open end

Seconds...

You should be able to build the whole assembly except for the top 45. Slip the assembly in place. Then connect the top 45. There should be enough flex to allow you to do this.

if the vanity fits, pull it back out and glue it with out having to mess around in the vanity base with plumber butt (unless you want to show pics)

lol
