the above advice is good. if you have a set weight for yourself you want to get to it can be frustrating to overcome plateau's.

If you are into training strictly for physique enhancement and overall health, try not to use the scale as a judge of gains or success. The mirror is a much better indicator of how your body is shaping up.

Gainer shakes are a convenient and relatively inexpensive way to get some decent calories in you. If you really cant eat much whole foods take 2-3 every day.

Assuming you are working out.

Log your eating for a week or two

Modify your diet to make sure that you are eating:
Protein - 1.5 - 2.0 grams per pound of body weight

add 500 calories a day to your basic maintenance diet.

Watch your weight. You should put on about a pound a week.
If you stop gaining weight add another 500 calories.

Research "starting strength" type lifting program and maybe even Gomad (gallon of milk a day)

Another thing you can do is wake up in the middle of the night and have a big meal. I do it automatically now (half asleep).

Also, if you have the $$$, buy a case of ensure (the high protein or high calorie formula), and drink them between meals.

ensure is for old people! get a mega-mass shake or a good all around meal replacement...
or save $$$ and make your own. I have found B-12 to help with appetite, EQ works, GHRP-6 is supposed to make EXTREAMLY hungery, also, Controlled labs makes a product named "black hole" it seems interesting.

I had this problem when I first started working out. I found if I stuck with whole foods it made me more hungry. Mass shakes made me feel bloated and I didn't like it. Also eating on a schedule helped. You may not feel hungry at that time but once you get some food in ya you will.

but it's so good! :)

I got hooked on them when I had a broken jaw. They're 300 calories each, and I could drink 6 for breakfast alone.

Beef instead of chicken.
Salmon instead of tuna.
Cheese, mayo, peanut butter, olive oil on whatever you can.

Force yourself to overeat in the morning, I always find if i dont eat enough in the morning I wont develop an appetite during the day. Im in the same boat as OP. Just pig out as much as you can and try to spread out the eating so you dont feel so sick all the time.

i dont like where this thread has gone. The goal is not to pig out and stuff yourself. It is to establish an effective meal plan that you can stick to to meet your goals. If you want to succeed you should have something written out including healthy foods you enjoy eating...then post the plan so we can provide positive feedback

I wrote down the bodybuilder's food list posted on this site and stuck it up on my fridge. I don't plan on pigging out or eating unhealthy foods. I'm just not used to eating more than 2 meals a day.

you should plan 5-6 medium sized meals throughout the day, maybe 2.5-3hrs apart with well balanced protein, carb and efa proportions. You should dedicate some time to planning it out and then post it for us to critique. Youll find in the long run it makes prep and cooking time, shopping and finances much easier.

One time I threw up half a shaker cup of protein back into the shaker cup (was lumping made me throw up) and I just drank it again... tasted like it had orange juice in it the second time around.

If i knew more on the subject Id offer to do it, but this section DOES need a good diet thread to be stuck to the page top...

thanks again for the advice everyone. First day of the diet is going well. bran and banana for breakfast (scoop of protein powder in my bran). For a snack a can of tuna with lemon juice, dill and pepper on wholewheat bread. Lunch I had wholwheat pizza with chicken on it. Protein shake and an apple for another snack. Dinner soon .... I'm going out to a local seafood restaurant so I'll probably have grilled swordfish or seabass

Thanks again everyone. The nausea I was deling with when I ate multiple meals a day is gone now.
I've noticed, even though it has only been a few days of eating 5 small meals, that I crave food more.
My BBQ has been busy with chicken breasts and steak.
Thank you all again for the help!

Dont eat stuff that will slow your metabolism like pizza and fast food! Eat healthy stuff like rice, oatmeal , pasta , egg whites , skim milk , chicken, steak, tuna, cottage cheese with weight gainers! Ultimate Nutrition Isomass !

Eat often! Eat when your hungry! If you eat those food , eat as long as your hungry ! You wont really gain fat .

Take your time, take breaths, sip some water, and treat it like a training session. Eating and diet is AS important or maybe more important than anything. If you want to be 210 eat like you Are 210. You have to tell yourself i have to do this, choke it down, gag on it, drink some water and wash it down. If you puke eat more. Im serious. Its not fun but it is a neccesary evil. If you want to be hardcore then eat hardcore. I know it sounds bizare but until i started getting over the fact i feel very sick i started to be able to plow down the food. Get into the mindset and watch yourself grow my brotha. Its not a cake walk but it has to be done.

^ this.

Drink water with your food, it takes me like 5-10 mins to eat a can of tuna without water, if you drink it down with water, you can down a can in a minute flat.

Same goes with other food, especially chicken breast eat it in chunks and swallow it with water. I've been pissed off at having too eat so much lately, but my weight is climbing right now. Treating food like a workout is better than thinking it should be all fun and games all the time, eating 5-7 meals a day isnt fun, its work. I throw up in my mouth everyday, i hate it but i want size...

Also to the OP i see you like the BBQ for chicken. That is a great idea expecially while the nice weather is here. But enjoy because when winter comes you could try the george foreman contact grills and they really do a good job. Dries the meat out a bit but really cuts the grease. But enjoy the BBQ like i do in the summer and offseason its everything on the bbq..Chicken, pork chops, ribs, steak, potatoes, all that tasty shit.

eat clean. get a mass protein supp. breakfast always oatmeal, piece of fruit and egg whites and or a protein drink. don't take any vitamins on an empty stomach. sometimes fruits can make your stomach upset. eat some pasta twice a week.

good luck

I'm starting to put some noticeable muscle but I'm starting to develope a little gut.
I hate it (the gut) so I quit drinking beer and am trying to stay away from restaurant food.
What is a good snack that won't add too much fat to my body?

Is alcohol going to slow my muscle growth or add fat to my body?
I have given up beer but still drink rye and diet.

Snack?

Fruit, rice cakes, natural peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread, salad, broccoli.

If you want to look your best you have to unfortunatly make sacrifices. Restauant food and fast food is the first to go. No wonder you cant eat a tonne you fill yourself up with those garbage carbs.

Think anything without a package, outside of the grocery store, animal food.

And your set..
