After reading the thread on crazy things you've seen in the gym I thought that it would be a good motivator to have everyone post up their best lifts and/or their most impressive lifts. I don't want to hear about some guy or your buddy etc. Just post up what you are doing now or have done. Let's get some friendly CBB rivalry going on!!!

Edit your post when you have beaten your best!

If you can supply video even better!!!!

Ok so let's start -

Flat Bench - 2 x 405
Seated DB Press - 7 x 125 for 2 sets
Rack Deadlifts - 12 x 405

I'll add more when I remember them...

Fouad really hit home with his interview on PBW - "Sometimes you have to scare yourself"

I dont really keep track but a few that stand out for me are....
6 plates/side squats...no belt etc wraps....blew my boxershorts out one of the times i did it, and my buddy was spotting me and panicked and grabbed me as i was going down as he thought i tore a muscle when he heard the rip...the bar bends nice with this weight........lolol,, then i showed him my gotch...good times, i guess they were to tight..

benched 405 for 5 or 6 reps....leg press, filled it up full, cant remember, but i blew a vein in my eye that day and had a nosebleed...lol...
arm curl with decent form barbell total weight was 205 lbs 45 and 35 per side for several reps...
barbell bent row with 315, no straps etc...I think i may own some straps, just havent used them...never have had straps, belts, wraps nada....
Ill keep things posted in my log, and i guarantee ill blow them all away.....:D
YES IM STOKED ....LOL:fwave
dumbell curls with the 90s for several reps, probably 8 or so...i never did use the 100s i dont think......

Im seeing some freaky squat numbers in this thread.

Are any of these "FULL" squats? Im talking ass to calves range of motion here.

I cant even imagine having that kind of brute strength if you guys are doing 500+ lb squats bending your knees all the way down.

Im uploading a vid right now of my squats this morning... after seeing SS do 225 for reps i had to try it! I pyramided up to 405 then back down to 225... Tried doing every rep at least parrallel but damn my cardio is rough right now, back pumps from hell too! This thread is gonna be a great motivator for me. Will post vid right away!

245lbs per hand farmers walk for 100ft
980lbs x 2 tire flip

I've also done lying tri extensions (skull crushers) with 205 lbs - years ago. I'll try to do them when I get back from vacation and post up the video.

I did Press Behind the Neck with 225 lbs the other week for 6 or so... let me check my log. I'll try to put that up too.

I use a smith machine for the heavy lifts as I never have a spotter (bench, inclines, close grips). So yes I am at 4 plates a side incline bench on smith machine should have said that. I warm up with 110DB's. Always trying to make progress that's what matters to me most not the weight

You mind if I give some constructive criticism? I think your knees are going to far forward and I notice that the weight on your feet shifts forward also. I think it would help if you got a good pair of flat bottomed shoes and focused on sitting back into the lift. Stretching the hamstrings more will also help. Just trying to help, great lifting buddy.

Thanks bro.. i was gonna go bare foot, just kinda went with it..those shoes do suck bigtime.. when i go up to 405 or more i take off the shoes... also usually i squat wider lets me sit back more.. this wasent my standard "power" squat stance.. but thanks broheezy, feedback is always great!:flagC

I guess if I'm offering up advice I should add something. I'm the strongest I've ever been right now. Lifted more weight in the past but limited ROM and worse form.

Started using a low box for my squats and it has really helped improve my hamstrings. Yesterday did 250x15, 1 min rest, 225x11. Want to get 315x10 in the next few months.

Box squats are great! But now im gonna give you some advice:yeah The best thing for squats honestly is 20 rep "breathing" squats.. take your usual 10-12 rep max weight and get 20.... yes get 20.. your legs recover so fast... once you hit 10-12.. hold that weight, recover and get another rep or 2, hold that weight deep breaths and get another 1 or 2... until you get 20, when ever i start to do these my squat SKYROCKETS!

It sounds quite similar to a DC widowmaker. Thanks for the advice C-money, those are the type of sets where it takes you 5 minutes to get your breathing back to normal. I should clarify about the box. I was doing box squats but now I touch and go at the bottom. I use it to keep my depth consistent. Right now I rotate between heavier and lighter days and always finish with a set of 225 to failure. I'll give you the same advice again, get yourself some good lifting shoes. I bought my chucks on ebay for less than $40 shipped and they were a great investment.

I feel inferior too all you guys, and i wouldnt call myself big at all.

Personal bests, bench 315 X 4, incline dumbells 120 for 12, squats 405 X 4, deadlifts 405 X 4... and something no one mentions... widegrip pulls ups BW + 90 for 4, goal is BW + 90 for 10 before year end, heaviest lift ever would be 495lb shrugs for 4 reps.

My spine is supposedly crooked, so I dont get really heavy with the compound leg exercises.

My lifts are shit compared to some of you guys :P....all these were done a year ago before alot of things went to shit and I started getting weaker (hurt my back....again, lost motivation)

Benched- 380
Oly squatted-405x10
rack pull-700 (from the knee's)
3 board- 405
Floor press- 350
Seated oh press (Just to eye level...this was most recent) 315

That said the moment you put a dumbell in my hand I am as strong as a 100 pound girl

swolegantor

Andre also spotted me the first time I ever benched 315

Well ive had knee problems in the past, usually i only use my wraps till around the 405 pound mark.. for these monster sets im actually am not wraping them that tight or it would cut off my circulation for to long i think.. with this many reps im just finding its helping keep the swelling down, keeping the knee compressed just slightly... its a good thing i woke up this morning and theres no knee soreness at all!:puff

i like doing the 20 reppers......my max squat so far is 6 plates/side....but when i do 5 plates/side for a couple sets, i sometimes finish off with 315 for 20 rep widowmakers....my next part of my periodization will be all about that, now im working on more conditioning, higher rep scheme to see what happens...

I used to talk with some of the speedskaters in Calgary 15 yrs ago or so.Some of the old short track guys did 150 rep body weight routines!I talked with one coach and he told me some rather unbelievable squat routines a 190 pound guy was doing.I questioned him about the athlete(whom he refused to identify)and said to him"you mean leg press, right?"And he replied"No,I mean squat".

I couldnt imgine doing 150 rep routines, a guy would have to recover for over a full week i bet... these sets destroy your whole body! My point is you hear lots of stories when it comes to strength... lots of times its exagerated or bs..

Last season in the gym was my first heavy go so this winter should be better. Didnt really do much dead lifting and i regret that now, i did squats, single leg leg press, romanian deads and some calves (all legs). Now im not a power lifter im a sprinter soo im not breaking any records :p

squat: 345 x 6-8 ass to grass depending on how controlled
dead: 275 x 8 or something.. pretty lame
bench: gotten it up to 185x12 lol!

speed training 4x a week kills my 2 weight sessions a week i hate it but it has to be done.

4 plates a side this winter is the plan for squats a2g
maybe 345x5 for deads...

Back in my football days I did 225 x 27 on flat. 435 x 6 on flat. I'd go onto the hack squat and squat with 5 plates a side and timed it for 5 minutes straight.

Few years ago I bent rowed 5 plates for 6 on a smith.

Smith shoulder pressed 365 for reps then too.

Thanks to a car accident 4 years ago my lifts arent quite as impressive.

if this is true then yes, it would be the freakiest thing ever. The problem is there is no way a 155 pound dude can bench 425 for 8 reps. It would imply that he could triple his body weight for reps. Not only that, the canadian record is 418 at that bodyweight (1 rep) and that involves bench shirts that may have helped 100 pounds.

lol @ short track guys doing 150 rep squats... if you have any idea what training is like for sprinting you should know that doing that would not be feasible unless you could sit out for 2 weeks afterward... i COULD see that at the BEGINNING of the off-season while building a base, but even then. They have the strength to do that! dont get me wrong, but that would not be regularly incorporated into a training program. I have done 225x25 for two sets and it totally killed my sprinting for 2 weeks, i couldnt do shit.

A couple of years ago after watching Platz squat 495 for 23, I tried high reps as well. My best was 350 for 23 raw. Really an awesome feeling. Squatted 525 for 2 clean and raw, but too afraid to try higher. Would love to try a suit one day.

After watching Ronnie's "cost of redemption", I tried the leg press with a bar across and extra plates. Not really sure what the weight was (about 18 plates per side) but it was fun putting on a show.

As you can tell legs are my strong part........upper body in general really sucks.....

Even with an alternated grip I cant really lift anything over 315. Over that I have to use straps. Now that I go to a gym that allows chalk, I'm looking to work on my grip a little more so I can start deadlifting raw.

Hopefully do, DKU. That was just the most I've tried before, and when my knee heals up I'll be sure to throw on a few lbs.

I usually squat parallel to the ground and up. This was a bit lower because of the bench but just pushing from the point when there was no pressure on my legs cause of the full sit down messed me up pretty good. Today is 4 days after I did my legs and I am finally not sore anymore. I will be doing them this way from now on.

Going parallel IS going to cause more torque on the knees compared to going ATG (with tight form) because once you dip below parallel the hams/glutes absorb all the force as opposed to stopping at parallel ...

BUT, going ATG is usually dangerous because the deeper you go the higher chance there is of your knees sliding forward (and coming off your heels) which causes a huge increase in torque on the knees.

I like going parallelish (maybe a bit below) just because it's comfortable to me. But the deeper you go the less weight you can use, and since most people use squats as a quad exercise then going deeper and taking stress off the quads (and having to use less weight) isn't the best way to overload your quads.

Very good point. I used to do 90 degrees to parallel and I felt it a lot in my quads but the moment I started doing them with a full sit down on a bench I started feeling it a lot more in my hams.
Great pic SS!

I've tried a few different belts when doing deads and i can't ****ing stand em.

I don't know why, but when i try deads with a belt on i can't get my feet positioned properly and i can't bend/breath properly at all.

I've tried it tight and loose six ways from sunday and the simple fact is i can lift more weight with no belt then compared to with it on.

We have this stupid challenge thing at my gym... 3 excercises (clean, bench and squat) 1 rep and the goal for girls is to reach 600 lbs.. the goal for guys is 1100lbs.

I am unofficially at 445, but Little Leigh (weighing in at a whopping 120 lbs) is sitting at 575!!
I have video of her doing a 285 lb squat!!

crazy!!

Lets see these vids DG, cmon already:):bch

Currently my lifts are:

squat - 315 x 30 (proud of this one, may video it someday)
bench - 225x30 , 370x1 legal(paused)
incline bench- 275x10
deads - 455x6
shoulder press-110's x9
military - 225x10
close grip - 275x6 (sucks)
standing DB curls- 75x6 strict (3 sec neg, 1 sec pos)
bent row- 295x8
one arm db row- 150x12

Standard exercise in my routine. Not really lifts so to speak. Can't risk singles on squat or deads anymore.

some very impressive lifts

Ground out 2 reps of 455 doing deadlifts today. I think I've overcome the fear of "4 plates".. hopefully I can work up to 5 soon enough... 455 felt comfortable, speed was good, probably could have gone a bit heavier.

I've got to say good work guys, god I feel like a school girl compared to you guys. My upper body sucks, legs are good for me.

Today I did personal best
incline bench 225# for 10
decline bench 245# for 8

Leg press last week 1108# for 8
squat (machine only back is blown) 360# plus machine
I sometimes barf after leg workouts. They really kill me. I usually eat at home and have to sleep for an hour.

Saw a youtube vid of Ron Coleman doing 2300# leg press. That's cool!

Once again guys, good work to all of you!

Id like to know the actual relationship between weight on the leg press vs pressure. I see guys leg press 10 plates all the time and struggle to squat 3 plates.. is leg press ever an impressive lift?

I have never been impressed by a leg press.

Same here.

Some guys load this thing up and are so proud of it ( sure it's alot of weight ) until I ask them to squat with me . It's even funnier when I put on the bands and watch them get shot to the ground :D with no more than 135lb bar weight.

leg press has its place. But I hear you guys..... every fag in the gym loads er up, and then does a whopping 6" rom... they get a better WO loading the machine

I usually do single legs and my knee is usually butting against my chin when I do them.

The leg press is an excellent exercise, just not as good as back squats or front squats :). I'm pretty sure that I am the only one in the gym that I am in that actually lowers the thing all the way down. I keep watching to see if I can catch anyone else using it with full range and haven't seen it happen in 6 months.

A 700 lb leg press = 495 lbs of force which is not the same as a 495 lb squat. You knew that.

They were still high if I was in a comp. It's a mental issue I have from not using the box.

Did 315 for 8 reps on the bench last night, 8th rep required a bit of help, but it was my first time getting decent reps with 3 plates.

Nice reps in your vid. I can't have my legs that wide or I get groin injuries.

Get some briefs or some tight underarmer wear. That will help with the groin and hips.

My problem use to be my hips.
