Is there any other main exercises i could do to help this lift improve. My form is fine and i know that the only problem is 1. i'm afraid i'll hurt myself without proper form. 2. I don't understand how this lift is so weak compared to the rest of my lifts. So in the end i just need to know some other exercises that will help this along.

I'm also doing rack pulls and regular deads.

any other suggestions for getting it off the f'in ground will be happily taken,

Deadlifts work many different muscle groups, so there's not really 1 exercise to help get it up. It is an exercise that you can build strength very quickly. When I started deadlifting I would do 1 plate a side and struggle. Within a matter of just months I was able to do 4-5 plates/side the more my body got used to it. Have you been deadlifting for a while or are you just getting started at it?

Where are you weak in the lift?

ps. Trouble off the ground means poor leg drive. Try doing deads while standing on 2 inch and 4 inch blocks or plates.

Well.. by doing Full Squat you can improve your deadlift since you legs and lower back are really important in deadlift. This exercice use so many muscle that your general strengh will also have a direct inpact on what you can lift on DL.

I am going to go out on a limb here.... but why don't you try doing a weight you are comfortable with, and take it from there.

Leave the ego in the locker room, and deadlift 1 plate, or less if required. Build up to it

Yes this^^ deadlift from a deficit.. stand on plates/block/box, something thats solid that you can stand on and raise your body up a few inches... do your deadlifts like this for a few weeks... if done properly you deads should start coming off the floor easier

I think the best exercise to improve deadlift is deadlift...Seriously.

I know you'll get advice of various alterations to the exercise (rack pulls, or standing on blocks, etc etc), but really, all you need is to be consistent with the exact movement you're trying to improve. You should be able to improve quickly. when that improvement halts, then start incorporating the other stuff to bring you over the top.

If I haven't deadlifted for even 1 month my form changes, certain stabilizers get weak, throws the whole lift off basically. Within another month I can go from barely getting 4 plates to easily pounding 5 for a dozen. Its crazy how the specific the movement is, and the major way to improve it is to just do it.

Start with something you can handle for about 10-12, 1 set is all you need. Next deadlift day add 5-10 pounds and repeat. Some days you'll notice you can add even more and still get your 10-12 reps.

I agree with Steve when a particular lift falls behind its almost always a technique issue, sure doing some support exercises might help but I would concentrate on perfecting my technique. Start watching Youtube videos of people deadlifting before you goto the gym and then really just take some time and 'feel' the movement as you do it. Have someone else at the gym who you know deadlifts spot you and tell you whats going on.
