I was just messing around. One of my staff on course was a Master Sniper, he was a scary asshole. I think there would be better options for hunting and target shooting. That thing would destory anything you point it at.

A sniper in the PPCLI had a confirmed kill with a .50cal sniper rifle at 2448m thats roughly a mile and a half. The longest shot in recorded combat. I thought I was hotshit for dropping a target at 1000m with a FN.

No, completely true. Guy was firing at a steel plate at 100 yards. The bullet deflected off the target and came straight back at him. .50 cal bullets have a lot of energy.

They are legal as far as i know, they'll put a dent in your wallet though, i know a guy that reloads his own ammo and i think it costs him like $12/round.

What's the availability of rounds? We all know ammo is hard to get south of the border now because of people getting prepared, but also because of military demand. .50 cal is a popular military round so just think how much of our tax dollars are being spent on them.
