I think PL is so sick. Props to those guys they are ridiculously strong. I enjoy the asthetic aspect more but you cant help but get pumped when you see a monster PL 2 times my personal best for 9 reps! lol..just amazing..

He's a freak! I believe he is a police officer if I'm not wrong. He's got a good build, seems like the trend in strongman, most of them stay in pretty good shape.

Strongmen are getting leaner and leaner as it becomes more and more apparent how important GPP is to being successful.

Even power lifters are as a whole getting leaner.

Strongmen are getting leaner and leaner as it becomes more and more apparent that that is how you get paying sponsors.

ABS are not a requirement of GPP.

This was likely one of the most impressive things I've ever seen. In my mind it puts him up there with the best pullers in the world.

I really love the story how Poundstone hurt his back and was told he'd never lift again, so he immediately entered a bench contest and won.. then a year later was competing again.

I know, eh? Totally radical.:beer

The story as told by wiki (for those who care):

On October 26, 2006, two weeks before the World Championships, Derek severely injured his lumbar spine during training while attempting a maximum effort deadlift of 366 kg (805 lb)[5]. Derek had a lumbar disc herniation (L4/5) and a massive spinal cord hemorrhage. Doctors told him that he would never lift again due to the severity of the injury[6].

Derek, determined to prove the doctors wrong and to realize his dream of becoming a world champion, started his path of recovery. He focused on training that he was still able to do, such as bench pressing. Within two weeks he won a state powerlifting bench press meet. He then set his sights on developing a training regimen which would enable him to compete at 100 percent in strongman again.

Derek's return to the strongman competition circuit was the 2007 St. Patrick's Strongman contest in Columbia, South Carolina. Derek won by 13.5 points[7] and overcame his deadlifting injury fear by completing a 364 kg (800lb) deadlift during the competition.
