So I want try a modded Keto diet but was wondering why Tomato's are "banned"?

If I keep my carbs are under 40g for the day. Does the source really matter? I cant eat salad or eggs without some chopped tomatoes. I usually eat 1 plum tomato a day. ( 4 calories/0.1g pro/0.8g carb/0.1g fat)

I just want to understand the reason these are banned from Palumbo style diets.

I believe tomatoes are a fruit......hence why they are banned.....Thats my best guess......

Palumbo might have his reasons, probably ironwill's suggestion, but if you are just doing a modded keto, a little bit of tomato is fine.
That being said, you need to check your nutrition on the tomato, that is probably for 1ounce/28g of tomatos, not a full tomato.

Im checkin Calorie counter and it lists a Cup of cherry tomatos as 149g--27 calories--5.8carb--1.3Pro--0.3fat.
I may use 1/3 cup a day. Doesnt seem too bad to me.

Prae...if my total cals...and percenatges of macros is right does it really matter? I was wondering if there was some technical reason for the tomato aversion....like it spikes insulin and prevent keto by some method.

If you are eating just 1 small tomato a day why even bother? Next we are going to see a thread about 5 almonds and steel cut oats. LOL
If you need it (and I don't believe you do) then have it and see where the diet takes you. Sounds to me like you've already justified it to yourself and you are just looking for support for your justification.

I felt I had to go back and clarify my post. Listen the Palumbo diet you see on the web is the same one he gives his paying clients. What you get from Dave is customization. The diet posted works for most of his clients (he has many and has fine tuned it). However, if you worked with him he may determine that tomatoes are ok for you. Since you are not working with Dave then you will have to determine the tomato thing for yourself. No one on the board is going to be able to give you an answer without working with you one-on-one. Eat the tomato and see what happens. Personally, for me I would suck it up and just do the diet as Rx'd.

sean....you are def right....i have already justified it cause i like em. I would def "suck it up" and drop the tomato's if someone gave me a solid reason as to why i souldnt have them. i just got done day7 (with tomato's) and im down 5lbs and approx 2lbs fat.....so..so far so good. i suppose ill have to play with it when i get down to 8-9% to see if it makes a difference.

Tomatoes may slow the time to get into Keto, once you're in keto however, they won't make a big diff......

On a Keto diet you can have 30 grams by Dr Mauro Dipasquale. The thing is with his diet you always have a 1 gram of carbs here, and a gram there with carbs and that adds up by the end of the day.If you have a log and you have the room then your fine, the nuts on a Keto diet added up faster than one Tomato, glad i can't eat tomato's anymore, since i eat to many of them in my day.Shit if you look at Mark Dugdale he eats carrots on his diet, but then again he eats clean all year round. But if you are losing weight then 1 a day will be fine, its later in the diet when weight doesn't come off than you need to eliminate the fruit and the high GI foods. So here is what i tell people make sure you diet 20-24 weeks and you will be fine, keep your cardio up,take some good fat burner, keep the diet tight and you will be fine.
BTW are you doing a show?

That's why I try and have zero carbs when doing CKD.
I may use a touch of sauce here, or this has 1-2g, that has another 1-2g, and next thing you know, you are up to 20g without even trying to consume carbs.
