Someone finally lit a fire under Cutler's ass and he showed up in shape for a change...kudos to him I'm not a Cutler fan but he brought it to the O and was prepared for battle congrats to him. Branch was just sick....well deserved 2nd place and a huge step for him...he works his ass off. Dex looked great, just not as much wow factor as Branch or Jay.
Kai...huge disappointment...his show to lose and he did just that. Phil Heath not as sharp as last year, his structure hurts him against bigger guys...narrow clavicles etc...by himself he looks great...what happened to all the size he had in the offseason...8 weeks out he looked enormous?
Victor lucky to have placed 6th he knew he wasnt tip top but hes gone through alot so it amazing he was even there. Wolf....blew it big time...not in shape and out of the running...time to go back to the drawing board and revamp everything...Chad's star is waning big time.

Looking at the score sheet shows how close it was. branch beat dex by 1 point, and kai and phil were only 1 point apart as well, and not too far from branch and dex.

I don't think the scoring system is really good though. Prejuding for the top 6 competitors technically only counts as 1/3 of your score. And how is round 3 scored? You watch their routines and then decide how to rank from 1st to 15th??? Think how hard it is to rank them when you can do comparisons and move them around...I dunno, its sort of fair, because part of how someone looks should be how they look by themselves.

BUT, if prejudging was 50% of your score, dex would have been 2nd. Round 3 and 4 would be combined into 1 score, therefore dex would have had 10 + 18.5 and branch would have had 16 + 15.

yeah but thats not the way it works, so you have no point to make. thats kind of like me saying prejudging should be the whole show.... it is the way it is.

I caught a couple last night live but am wondering if anyone has vids or a replay. Ruhl was the last guy I saw, he just looks so thick around the middle.

Yes, you could say prejudging should be the whole show - thats the way it is in the ifbb shows we all compete in...My point to make is that I thought it was 50% prejudging and 50% night show. Also, the commentators said it was 50-50...which it is for everyone EXCEPT the top 6. And if that is the way it worked, Dex would have came 2nd.

It is what it is, but its very strange to me. for example, if you come 7th, then it's 50-50. So someone coming 7th can't work his way up as much as someone coming 6th if you can see where I am coming from there. Ex: someone may have placed 6th in prejudging and round 3, but another guy could have come 10th in prejuddging and then 2nd in round 3 and if they combine to place 7th, he no longer goes on, to continue to use up his awesome night showing to keep moving up further.

It doesn't matter how they do it, I just never realized thats the way its done.

From flexonline:

"In fifth place, in what must surely have been a disappointment, was "The Gift," Phil Heath. Heath, who suffered a stomach virus hours before Friday night's prejudging (at one point, EMT's were called in) dropped about eight pounds before taking the stage last night..."

SHITTT that really sucks...I geuss its all part of the game. Its on stage that counts. Im so disapointed at dennis wolfs placing. But he looked like shit wow. He needs to find a trainer that knows how his body reacts better. Chad nichols is one of the best but so far wolf has not been at his best. 16th for him. I want to hear what he is going to do NOW?

I really didnt think Jay's body could adapt positively anymore and he was beginning a slow decline, boy was I wrong! It's funny how some people react so well to pressure and others crack. Good job Jay... Branch was well deserved. He looked awesome, as soon as I saw him walk out I was thinking wow he's top 5 for sure... I feel bad for Dex as I like his overall shape, but when it seems he can only win if everyone else is off, he just doesn't have the freaky look.
