I've found this to be a most overlooked aspect of prep. Knowing how to present yourself properly on stage in the prejudge and final can mean a place or more.

You do not win the trophy in prejudge, but you can easily lose it there. Knowing the techniques and tricks of executing turns and mandatories properly is a big key to success. As is finding a routine that fits your skills and body type.

Posing should be incorporated into the workout, and perhaps a practice session in substitution for a cardio. Practice is aerobic and will hone your skills and endurance for the stage. I've drilled this into any athlete I've worked.

Anyone with questions or looking for advice or evaluation, just holler. Based on my schedule would be glad to offer what I can. Not a solicitation and no charge.

Getting in contest condition is not enough. Have to know how to show it.

I am gonna bump this as a guy who underrated this going into my first show. My coach soon set me straight and I began to realize like others have said, posing is my job. Nobody is going to care when I step on stage, what I ate or how much I bench...the only thing that will matter is how much muscle can I display.

Solid advice,
Hawk

Thanks, Hawk. Nice to see a fellow USA guy here. You hit the nail squarely on the head. I've judged shows, and you can't get credit for what you cannot display properly.

A tourist stopped a native New Yorker and asked how to get to Carnegie Hall.
The New Yorker said "Practice and more practice.". Fits here. I tell that to everyone I coach.

I agree 100% with NEEDING a coach most definitely for contest prep!! (Great point GerryT) I know I'll be hiring a trainer/coach before comps next yr!

That's terrific. Ideal to have a coach who can work with you hands on.

If you want on line advice and evaluation or routine ideas gratis, feel free to get in touch. Good luck.

Hey guys!

Just wondering about advice for posing. Any ideas where to find a coach for this in Nova Scotia?
