200lbs at 17% BF. Training with weights 5 days of the week.
Taking 2300 calories trying to lose fat a good number?

Well assuming the macronutrient breakdown is good and the calories are coming from the right sources. Through some cardio in the mix and yeah, looks about right I guess.

What I would consider a good macro breakdown is 250 Pro, 250 Carb, 30 Fat. That's roughly 2300Kcals (slightly less). Although you could do things a lot of different ways. Carb cycling, keto diets etc... I don't have a lot of experience with either, but other people on the board do.
Search Palumbo diet. It's a good place to start, it's a cookie cutter diet.

Whatever works for your body but when i was ieting 2300 was the calories i was eating in my last 2 weeks before a show. At the same weight and about 10% bf i lost 30lbs in 15 weeks eating 2500 calories. My diet was mainly protein (40-60G)(x lean ground beef, unseasoned chicken breast, white fish), slow carb( brown rice, yams) and veggies (broccoli, asparagus) every 2.5 hours. 2300 will definitly work but i think you should try it and after 3-4 weeks asscess if you can raise/lower it. Diet is individual i find and needs to be tailored and ascessed all the time to really dial it in. I wish it was as easy as one size fits all and we could all say eat THIS and you'll get cut up..
PM me if you want a sample diet i used if you need a hand..
