last night i heard a loud bang around 3am. it was sharp, and sounded like a gunshot report.

Startled awake, I immediately knew that something wasnt normal in or around my house. Cats were on my bed, and alarmed too, so I knew it wasnt those little ****ers making trouble, so I armed myself, and went to investigate. All doors and windows secure, and no sign of activity outside.....

What in the ****!


So I was obviously puzzled, and went for a drink of water, when I found a piece of my microwave laying on the ceramic stove top beneath. It fell off, and landed in such a way that it made one **** of a loud bang. Especially at 3am in a quiet house.

Anyways, it appeared that the piece was broken, and had taken 2 years to finally fall free of the microwave, so I said **** trying to fix it, I would order a new piece.

Kitchenaid ****s me around, and says call sears.

Sears charges me $200 ****ING DOLLARS FOR A PLASTIC LITTLE ****ING GRILL!!!!!

The microwave was $1200. The $200 piece of plastic is 17% of the value of the microwave.

I called Kitchenaid back, and they were indifferent, so I am no longer a Kitchenaid customer. Not in a long shot.

In the last 5 years I have purchased approx $10 grand in Kitchenaid, and was hoping to build a new home in the next 5, that would likely have a $20G appliance package (real hardcore kitchen).

It will be Miele....

I think you may be able to find the part for A LOT less.
Having said all of that, YOU know the logic behind: Expensive piece of equipment, WILL yield expensive parts.
If you purchase a BMW, you can expect parts to exceed the average vehicle price.

I am sure you have enjoyed that microwave...now stop being such a cheap old man, and get that part

it probably got cracked during installation or something, and eventually just cracked through, and then fell.... Makes no sense to me either, as nothing was messing with it, especially at 3am

It has a book of things that it can do that I haven't even read yet but its thick.... It will brown meat, simmer pasta, grill, accept metal dishes and foil, roast, and the whole time operate silently and vent to the out doors. Surely you have smelt the foul odor of microwave popcorn? Well not in my house....... It blows the smell to my neighbor (the asshole one who hates me). On the front of the brochure there is a vegetable caserole that obviously got cooked in a microwave like mine and it looks very appetizing. Wanna cook some bacon without smelling up the house? My microwave can do it with its "auto cook" feature. It has a microwavable hot plate for browning, crisping and sizzling food. I could do shishcabobs in my microwave. Place a potato in it, press bake potato button, and voila.... perfect baked potato.

my lg 1200$ microwave can do all that, BUT it can't cook a bag of popcorn worth shit. pops 50% sometimes, 75% other times...the 50$ piece of crap at my work cooks 100% of the kernals everytime. Oh well, it looks really cool.

I had THE EXACT SAME MICROWAVE and the EXACT SAME THING happened to me! The plastic clips in the grill some how blew out and the grill fell (I bed we weren't the only ones who had this). I got the bullshit bad price from Kitchenaid, so I epoxied it in instead.
