local transit information for the budget-conscious
A new mainly underground transit line will get you downtown from the airport in 25 min. Fare is $3.75, $2.50 after 6:30pm and on weekends. ($2.50 and $1.75 for seniors 65+),
Get off at Vancouver City Centre, come up to street level, turn right, walk on Georgia Street past the Bay, and you'll be at the downtown Sandman in 5 blocks. There's supposed to be a train every five minutes.

txs for the props. just taking it day by day at this point and adjusting as needed. i'm working with noel fuller who has been great to work with and will bring me what i hope will be my best condition, and let the judges take it from there :). as long as every year i improve and learn, to me that is key.

as for the autograph LOL (funny girl) well i'll just be happy to see all the great people i've stayed in contact with via the internet the last year. there are definitely pros and CONS to living overseas. it's going to be great to see new and old faces again. thanks to everyone for their support...

try following a gf or wife around during the day before and day of the show...You'll quickly be thankful that all you need to worry about is shaving and putting protan on. Its not in the rules, but can you imagine a woman NOT doing all those things for a show? Besides, it actually can help them out in their rankings:

The judge should also look for good skin tone with an absence of surgical or
other scars, spots, acne or tattoos, which the IFBB considers as a skin blemish, tidily
dressed hair, well-shaped feet, and toes. When having difficulty in placing two or
more competitors who seem to be on the same level, the judge should look for faults
in those aspects listed above which will help to differentiate among the competitors.

It's often close, so all those little things CAN make a difference.

They do enforce this gay rule from what i remember, my girlfriend was told to stop filming.

Went to weigh-in and there's a lot of competitors this year. I hope to make top 5 in my class but they are big classes this year. Should be a good show. dEnnis James is guest posing...strange thing is, gUSTAVO bADDEL IS ALSO IN TOWN AT rEFLEX SUPPLEMENT STORES THIS WEEKEND and I saw a few of the female pros in town...TOO BAD WE COULDN'T GET SOME OF THEM TO come out to the show, too and mingle with us athletes and talk to us.

I think 12 in middleweight, I also heard that the other 2 weight classes for women were small (only a few in each). Looks like they need to update the cutoffs, with 20 in 1 class!

Heard from the sample people that the light middle is the largest class with something like THIRTY guys in it. I wasn't sure if I believed it, but there I bet there are at least 20-25.

as for prizes, i highly doubt they get anything. Its a priveledge to compete at this level is what a BC judge told me a few years ago, They want their pro cards, not a tub of protein and a thanks for coming out.

i keep my fingers crossed for Antoine Vaillant this evening. I think that he presents a very impressive physique and charisma. He deserves to win the championships and to become a pro. The fact that he is only 22 years of age makes his performance even more brilliant and impressive.

Does anyone knows when his class will start and are there reports on the course of the show and the results? And are there even pictures or small videos?

What do you guys think about Antoine? According to my opinion, he is superior class.

Best from germany to canada (and especially to vancouver for Antoine).

unfortunately for supers the competition was not as strong as the others.

This is a big show with lots of top quality guys in each class. The overall should be really something...it could go to any class! The welters I'm in is tough and the lights are great, too! The quality goes through all divisions. Super athletes...making me feel real small! Judges worked us hard. Nonetheless. it should be a great night show. Pics are not encouraged so I don't know if anyone will have any up. Inside Fitness Magazine had a lot of cameras backstage.

Dave did not make first call outs as he was not the best I have seen him. I'd say sixth or seventh. Crazy class. I have rob belieze winng the middles. My pick for heavies is mark richman edging out the freaky leon eastmen. Leon has the most muscle I've seen on a short guy, just crazy. Super heavies is real close with ron and mike from ontario.

Just remember at Nationals its full package. All body parts must be there, conditioning is a must and you have to know how to pose. You wouldn't believe how many still can't pose on a National stage. They judges know what to look for and I'm sure once you see pictures of the line up and the top 5, you will know why they placed as they did. More motivation for next year.

They announce who gets pro cards at the end of a show. They don't necessarily go to the winners of 2 classes - eg, middle and heavy. One class can have both pros. Once you earn your pro status you still have to apply for it - lots of paperwork.

Agreed he looked much better this year then from the photo in 08. The room pic was likely taken by his GF she is like a foot shorter then him that is not the best angel. Have to wait and see comparison photo's for overalls.

Not iffy in my books. Sandy is freaky ripped and when they first came out he looked to be the guy to beat, he won middleweight a few years ago, and is an awesome competitor. But your eyes were immediately drawn to the eventual winner. they were close from the front, but the other guy destroyed from the back. He was actually MORE ripped than sandy if that is even possible. Another thing to note is that both competitors competed in middleweight, sandy didn't place top three, and the same winner took that class as well.

You're right. Its Greg, he's my bro - he looked awesome - improved from his 5th place light middle a couple years ago. In fact there was some boos on the call. I knew he wasn't going to beat mr. freaky ripped guy, but I had greg for #2 even though I had a slight bias, I bet it was close between the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. It was the hardest class to judge, and probably the most competitive. Even the winner from a few years back didn't make top 5.

Dennis james guest pose was pretty good too. he's a cool guy, went right into the audience all over for a good 5 minutes!

Most of the guys looked great. In a show like this, though, the eighth and ninth place guys could go to a local and walk off with an overall! I did very well provincially and I didn't make top 5, maybe not even top ten. Best I've ever looked!

Vaillant looks great in pics by himself...just like last year he looked fantastic in pics but when he is compared to other guys at this level its a different story...he loses alot of the lustre...last year his conditioning was way off and he didnt do well. we'll have to wait for pics of this year to see if there was any improvement.

Mike was way harder in the glutes, and hams. A lot more balanced then Rob also. Rob has a thick chest, and thick upper - but mikes shape was better which counts for a lot. I was hoping the judges picked it this way, but wasn't sure which way it would go - they got it right.
